Abstract
The article provides an overview of the European International Conference on Applied Superconductivity. It highlights key topics from the plenary presentations, including the prospects for using high-temperature superconductors (HTS) in high-field magnets, the latest advances in adapting the microstructure of traditional superconductors, and research into radiation damage in REBCO-coated conductors. The CRAFT and BEST projects aimed at developing thermonuclear fusion technologies are reviewed, as well as the problems and prospects of scaling superconducting quantum computers. Changes in the paradigm of HTS application are noted — the transition from use in the electric power industry to the creation of high-field magnets, including for controlled thermonuclear fusion. Organisational aspects of conference participation are also addressed, including restrictions related to sanctions and their impact on the scientific community. The importance of international conferences for knowledge exchange, establishing professional contacts and developing international cooperation in the field of superconductivity is emphasised.
Keywords: superconductivity; conference; thermonuclear fusion; quantum computers.
